In this interview, we spoke with Hanna Matseva, CEO of Accounting Outsourcing at UHY Prostir. Over more than 15 years at the company, Hanna has grown from an assistant to a department leader.
We discussed her professional journey, career development at UHY Prostir, key achievements, as well as team support, the atmosphere, and future plans.
Hanna, tell us about your career story at UHY Prostir. How did you join the company? What were the turning points in your career?
I’ve been with the company since 2007. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I decided to look for a job while pursuing my master’s studies, so I could apply my theoretical knowledge in practice. I sent my CV to UHY Prostir, passed the testing, and joined the team.
At first, I was invited to a position as an audit assistant, but I ended up immediately in the accounting outsourcing department. I worked in accounting for a while, and later I had the chance to participate in an audit as an assistant auditor. That’s when I realized that outsourcing interested me the most, and that this was the field in which I wanted to grow.
After a year, the chief accountant responsible for all outsourcing projects resigned. Director Oleksandr Koinov suggested I try myself in this role, providing professional support both within the company and externally — from an invited expert. As the company developed, with a growing client base and expanding team, this role gradually transformed into Head of the Accounting Outsourcing Department. And in 2025, I became CEO of the accounting division.
Which projects are you most proud of in your work at UHY-Prostir?
Over the years, there have been countless projects and challenges that we successfully overcame together with the team. Among them — organizing and supporting accounting processes in large international companies, passing tax and audit inspections, and business trips abroad to coordinate consolidated reporting processes for international groups.
But my greatest pride is not only professional results. Today, UHY Prostir is a place where a friendly atmosphere, mutual support, and opportunities flourish — both for those just starting their careers and for experienced experts. It’s also important that we are constantly moving forward: implementing modern approaches, automation, and innovations, including the use of Artificial Intelligence in business processes.
Were there situations when you supported colleagues or clients beyond work tasks?
Yes, for me this is a natural part of teamwork. I try to see the needs of colleagues not only in task performance but also in everyday communication and mutual support. I cannot share specific examples for ethical reasons, but I always try to be there in difficult times — to listen, advise, or simply support.
Which qualities do you value most in your colleagues, and how do you support your team, especially junior specialists?
I value most responsibility, open communication, empathy, kindness, teamwork skills, and flexibility in adapting to changes. These qualities create an atmosphere of trust and mutual support.
When I see a junior colleague feeling tired or lost, I try to talk through the situation with them. Together we find solutions, break down a complex task into smaller steps, and set priorities. This helps reduce the feeling of overload and brings back a sense of control. I’m always ready to help with tasks, and if needed, I may suggest rest or additional training to strengthen weaker areas. At the same time, I emphasize the colleague’s strengths and look for positive solutions — sometimes even suggesting a role change.
What’s next for you — in your career and beyond work?
I want to dedicate more time to learning in order to continue my personal development. Professionally, my goal is to ensure the implementation of the company’s ambitious strategic objectives: scaling, entering international markets, and introducing digital solutions for clients. And also — to support colleagues, sharing my experience and helping them grow.
